What are Human Rights?
EmpowerWoC has an appreciation for diversity and fair and equal treatment for all people.
We believe human rights to include the right to life and liberty, freedom from slavery and torture, freedom of opinion and expression, the right to work and education, rights of the disabled and many more.

Why It Matters
EmpowerWoC believes human rights are not limited to one group of people over another. The following issues are masked in controversy but are aimed at restricting human rights:
-
Bathroom bills
-
Laws that define marriage
-
Bills banning transgender children from athletics
-
Xenophobia and rise of attacks on Asian Americans

Texas House Bill 25, also known as the "Drop Your Pants Bill", is an anti-trans sports bill that:
-
Requires students to compete in sports teams that corresponds with the sex listed on their birth certificate
-
Subjects students to questions about their genitals and potentially mandates genital inspections
-
Is mentally detrimental to LGBTQ students

What is Xenophobia?
Xenophobia is an extreme, intense fear and dislike of customs, cultures, and people considered strange, unusual, or unknown.
